Room Parties
Children look forward to classroom parties with great anticipation. Many of the ideas that follow are simple to execute, and are guaranteed to please!
Getting Started

Invitations
Stir up some student excitement by sending invitations to your "Western Hoe Down" or "Boot Scootin Jamboree". Make your own invitations out of constuction paper cut into western boots or stars. Or, purchase premade Western Invitations.

Western Party Dress
Encourage students to wear their cowboy boots, cowboy hats and bandanas, etc. Be sure to have some extra bandanas and cowboy hats on hand for anyone who forgets or doesn't have any. A great idea would be to give each student a western bandana to take home as a party favor.
Western Decorating Ideas:

- Use Western Scene Setters to create an Old West atmosphere.
- Bring in some bales of hay and pumpkins.
- Make a pretend campfire with some sticks and red, yellow and orange tissue paper.
- Tie lots of balloons around room for a festive look!
- Use upside down cowboy hats as serving bowls.
Western Party Activities
- Square Dance - If the space is availabe and you can recruit someone to call...have a square dance or two-step.
- Sing-a-Long - Set the scene with an old fashion campfire (build a pretend campfire out of sticks and red, orange and yellow tissue paper) and have a sing-a-long! Teach the children some old "campfire songs"! Some great ideas would be:
1. Home on the Range
2. My Darling Clementine
3. Get Along Little Doggies
4. She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain
5. Happy Trails
6. Turkey in the Straw
